National Doctors Day at Stanford
In appreciation of Stanford physicians' commitment to quality patient care, excellence in medical education, and continuing advancements in medical research and treatment, Lane Medical Library will host a table at the National Doctors Day brunch hosted by the Medical Staff Office and Office of Graduate Medical Education on Thursday, March 30th from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m.
Lane Librarians will demonstrate new tools for accessing online resources and connect doctors with their library liaisons.
Doctors Day History
The origins of National Doctors Day go back to 1933 when a group of
physicians' spouses in Winder, Ga., chose the day to commemorate the
anniversary of the first administration of anesthesia almost a century earlier by a local Georgia physician. In 1991, President George Bush signed an executive order designating March 30 as an official day of recognition for physicians.
